Recreation

The goal of Recreation Ministries is to introduce others to Jesus Christ by creating opportunities for fellowship and service through sports and recreation.

Below you will find the complete list of currently scheduled events and activities organized by the Recreation Ministries. Please contact us for more information.
UPWARD Sports and Cheerleading Leagues
(For boys and girls from Kindergarten through 6th grade.)

UPWARD operates on these premises:

  • Every child is a winner on God's team. Each person is unique and of supreme value in the eyes of God.
  • Coaches ensure each player gets an equal opportunity for play.
  • UPWARD emphasizes respect for authority in the game, in the classroom and in all other areas of life.
  • Coaches are committed to maintaining a positive atmosphere, in practice and on game days.
  • Whether it's basketball, soccer, football, or cheerleading, it should be fun to play.

The skills necessary for these games can be learned and refined. The court or playing field becomes a real-life classroom for lessons in teamwork and personal excellence following examples found in the Bible.

Youth Challenge Summer Camp

Encouraging 6th - 8th graders to explore their faith and develop confidence through interactive, teambuilding activities.
Weekdays, 8:00am - 5:00 p.m. Dates to be announced.

Christian role models share a summer camp experience and lifelong memories of traditional values in a positive atmosphere.
Team Sports

When friends play together, they grow together, learning to lean upon each other's strengths and experience. NNUMC teams share in prayer and step into the arena as ambassadors for Christ and His church. Through competitive play, teamwork and sportsmanship, we have been able to find avenues for spiritual growth.

We have had many strong softball, volleyball and indoor soccer teams, but the competitive spirit pales compared to the shared fellowship.

Men's Pick-Up Basketball

Every Wednesday night, 8-9:30 p.m., the Wesley Center Community Center is open to members and friends for open 3-on-3 basketball. Stretch those legs and improve your game as you share some time with Christian friends on the court.
General Fitness Classes

The Temple of the Holy Spirit - 1Cor. 3:16

Upcoming classes include the following:

  • Body Recall
    (www.bodyrecallinc.org) - This is a program of movement that will help you with your range of motion, agility and energy level. You will need to wear comfortable clothes, socks and soft shoes. Call the instructor, Lois Tropf (593-7600, ext. 212) for more information.
