The members of North Naples United Methodist Church made an important decision to influence the children of the Naples community in the 1970s, when it began the weekday children’s ministry with the establishment of The Caring Place for two, three and four-year-olds. The preschool later added infant/toddler and Mom’s Day Out programs to its venue of ministry.

In the spring of 1999, the Administrative Church Council of NNUMC voted unanimously to extend the existing preschool into an elementary school for grades K-5, when the new facility was completed. The Village School opened in the fall of 2000, with 37 children in grades K-2. Each year a grade level was added through the eighth grade.

In the spring of 2005, the school formed a separate corporation, owned by NNUMC.
